Excellent!
Podie we're gonna to have to hold a competition at some point, I'll be up for topping your score of 7 before 7
If only I had a TVR when I was 11...
Is it the pops and bangs on overrun mostly, or high revs that do it, or both?
Pete, is that luverly V8S of yours "cooper green"? Im not colour blind, just a bit of an ignoramus when it comes to paint types. I've found a V8S which had a new respray in cooper green 3 years ago and am seriously considering it

dont find the V6 tends to pop and bang so much as the V8 on overun although there are a few exceptions (IIRC Podie reported this after the tune up at austec).
My V8 has had the baffles removed and sounds superb, with enough pops and bangs on overun that lots think its had the cats taken out too. My G/F's S2 has a standard stainless exhaust and that has a nice throaty V6 sound but no pops and bangs.

Pop, Pop, Bang, Bang....
My car has the sports stainless zaust has had the chip remap treatment, pops and bangs on overun, has a fantastic noise....BUT....
I don't think it has ever set any alarms off...
On the trip to LeMans most V8 owners following said that the S had a luverly sound... louder and slightly higher pitch than the V8, almost as if it were singing...
Waiting for the video of the 1st Lotus driver training day to be posted so that I can have a listen without being in the car....

Yup!
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=108541&f=13&h=0I'm convinced mine's getting quieter you know...
.. or maybe I'm just going deaf...
Post Austec tune-up it popped and banged all over the place... then the leaky manifolds got replaced and it got a bit quieter (dammit!).. with with Optimax in the tank it'll happily pop away.... was singing like a good 'un last night... warm engine, cold air and OptiMax coupled with the Dartford Tunnel..

I should get my skull checked for cracks - Im an ignoramus with names as well as paint types
Wicked car though, it looks great!! What are baffles are and what do they do? And whilst im asking, what are tappets? Is there per chance an online dictionary of common car bitz, explaining what they are and what they do?
Anyone got an opinion on my idea that: surely if you drilled a tiny hole in your exhaust, the popping and banging would be increased greatly, or not, or would the car just sound like a dying animal?
Do not drill a hole in your exhaust
Baffles are to make it quieter and there in the exhuast.. i dunno what tappets are..
V8S starting.!

You might want to try www.sleepy-fish.com/video_page.htm - plenty of TVR (including some V8S) video clips. Some are quite large, so not good if you only have dial-up!

I see Luca has tidied up the TVR video section, I have my own bit now
. Had aquick look at some of my previous vids, I think I'd re-edit the tunnel one as it's not quiet right. Almost makes you want to go for ablat now
. I commend the V8S ones to you if you've never driven or passengered in a Tiv before. Turn the volume up a bit, get comfortable and enjoy, its as close as you'll get without sitting in one

Thanks for the link Pete, there were some wicked videos of the V8S there. I would have replied to yer email sooner but I've been busy at this end... watching videos
In the back of my mind I wundered about comments of the V6 comparing to the V8 in terms of how great the exhaust note was, but not after listening to PsychoRobers S3!! Thats an awesome sound mate, proper nice noise, I think recon theres nothing between the two. They both sound different, and unlike everything else on the road
Counting down the days till ownership is agony, (getting hands on needed cash, 7-10 days left) anyone got any suggestions...
