David beer of mod-wise done a nice conversion if he's still about.
Before I used his mod I had done a similar thing using a door actuator sitting in the glove box wired in to push a rod through a hole in the glove box door. Wired it up to the central locking. Keeps the weight of the push lock and when in car if you pressed the lock button for total closure it kept it from bouncing open too.

I'm working on one at the momment. I could only get the loft latch to jam up the glovebox or kneecap my passenger with it. Can't post any pics from works computor but it is based on a magnetic 'touch' cupboard catch and is quite a neat fitting. The problem is the magnet is not strong enough to hold the glovebox up so I am in the process of fitting a neodymium magnet which should sort it out. I'll post again when I have finished the job. Probably Christmas Day smile

Try e-bay....im trying to use the same things to hold the centre switch pannel in place rather than glue the thing to the studs.

I got mine from http://www.guysmagnets.com/
Unbelievably helpful, cheap and fast delivery. If you are doing something like my catch (I'll try to uplaod an image)the one you need is the 15mmx5mm zinc plated disk http://www.guysmagnets.com/view-product/15-mm-x-5-...

If you buy more than one you will get a 'plastic' washer which I glued to the magnet to reduce the power a bit and protect the zinc coating.

You will need some 'proper' superglue to attach the magnet to the catch though. I have a supplier for that but the details are in the garage so let me know if you need it and i'll dig it out.

I want to make a better striker plate than the kitchen cupboard one. I want to get something shaped to the profile of the gloovebox. If you beat me to it please let me know what you have done.

Bloody TVr's, your always spending time finishing them properly!
