Hi, quick question for you all as I would be quite interested to see what results people are getting from this,

So as the petrol price ever continues to fluctuate, I was just interested to see how much mileage you other Piston Headers get from your cars from the £20 top up from empty/ reserve of petrol or diesel.

I'll get the ball rolling, My 1989 Vw Golf Mk2 Gti will get around £120ish miles from £20 of petrol when the needle just drops into reserves!

EDIT - also state what car you have also! biggrin

Best i've done in my van on 20 quid, before wimping out and filling up is about 140 miles, works out at about 47 mpg, mostely pottering around town. I'm happy with that for a 13 year old Kangoo.

It costs about £50 on average to fill the mx-5 up and with mostly urban driving I get about 250 miles to the tank.

Maths was never something I saw eye-to-eye but I believe that this would mean I'd get 100 miles before I ran out. That's actually rather saddening now I've worked it out.

Ive found with my mk1 35mpg if you drive like a granny in a beige fiesta. Or about 28 ish thrashing it about smile. That's one of the reasons there so wonderful for me. Encourage you to thrash it everywhere.

I get about that MPG or slightly higher on the motorway but since most of my mileage during the week is through towns with a small amount of A road, it rarely gets above 30mpg and as you say, at that point it doesn't seem to matter too much whether you're driving economically or not.

Depends on how much the petrol/ diesel costs for a litre. If it was £20/ litre, you wouldn't get very far. When I first started driving, my car did approx 30mpg but from £20 I could do approx 240 miles. Now my car does about 40 mpg and from £20 I will get about 120 miles. (Don't pick me up on the maths!!)

So my answer is 6 miles because I paid over the odds for my petrol.

I think essentially you are asking for everyones mpg?

Sorry to be obtuse..........

I once managed only 45 miles in my RX-8 from £25 of fuel before it physically ran out of juice laugh

The 350Z's not great either, probably get 60 miles from £20.

That's okay! Yeah I see what your getting at Mike! Lol, And yes if £20 was only for a litropus petrol we wouldn't be getting very far at all! I was basically asking what people are getting this present day for £20 worth of fuel, so yes essentially an mpg related question, and there has been quite a few good answers from those who have replied!

The main reason was that I thought that the 120 miles for £20 of petrol - average cost of £1.30 to £1.36 average in my area was pretty reasonable for a 21 year old hot hatch, and just wanted to see what other people were getting mileage wise for the amount of petrol I normally put in weekly smile

Cheers, Rik
