Has anyone ever seen one of these out on the road?

Talk about a bit of a Q car.. apparently they're 4Matic too with a 0-60 time of under 5 seconds.. I bet you'd catch a few folks out with that? I saw one today and initially only saw the nose and the 6.3 badging - I assumed it was a CLS as the shape at the front is similar. But then I got out of my car and saw it was a huge great people carrier van thing and had a middle aged lady driving it. Could barely believe the noise of the thing as it fired up and burbled out of the car park!

Obviously the 6.3 and AMG badges, as well as the big exhaust tips and HUGE brakes give it away a bit but pretty indestinguishable from something far more mundane!

Definitively haven't seen one.
Debadged could easily be mistaken for something with a diesel engine?
By the general public, I mean.

Yep these are great, if only because it's the fastest 7 seater in the world.

You do have to wonder how it ever came into existence, and what sort of business case was made to actually get it into production! I can't imagine they've sold many of the things?

There are quite a few down here in Italy and the bit of the S of France next door, I only ever noticed it like you did when what appeared to be seemingly normal people carrier pulled away to the tune of an 63 AMG, the best one I saw looked quite battered and well used, fog light hanging out the bumper, scratch like someone had run a rake wing to wing and filthy, but sounded like heaven!

With the R-Class it's much better without visual representation.

I didn't realise they existed. Was its sold in the UK? Can't find any on Autotrader.

Apparently they only existed for a year before getting the chop because of, unsurprisingly, terrible sales figures!

I remember seeing one in Germany in 2006, never seen one since.

Only ever seen one, near the NEC when I went up there for a motorshow (can't remember which). It was driving in convoy with a few other silly Mercs and the like by a big group of Arabs.

I sold one....twice! Was over £100k new; stunning bit of kit but the interior was always been a bit too low-rent to warrant the price tag.

I remember I heard from somewhere (maybe autocar) that they were on sale in the UK but they didn't ever sell one. I barely ever see diesel ones never mind AMG's. Shame, I'd love one.

So they've turned a hideous monstrosity of a car into an extremely fast hideous monstrosity of a car. Perhaps not the one for me smile

There has to be a certain comedy about a 2.4 tonne bus that will hit 60 in 5 and can go on to 186mph. Plus, sound rather good while doing it.
De-badge it and I'm sure there'd be fun to be had (well, for a few miles, until a somewhat regular visit for more fuel).

Mind you, it is a bit of a munter.

I suppose it's just a Mercedes "X6M" but not quite so ugly.

Didn't realise it was quite so rare! Wonder if the owner does?! It was a fair old size though it has to be said but in fairness made a bit of a change from the usual 4x4's and stuff that normally litter the roads around here.

On the one hand I can't understand how they were ever made (who is the target customer?!), but on the flip side it's a rare / unusual car, certainly not something you see around very often, is very high performance and is very understated - a pretty respectable choice.
