Hi All,

I was travelling through Slough on the Bath Road, along the dual carriage way section near Salt Hill Park and the old town hall. I was going towards the Bus station and saw a police man in his bright jacket holding a speed gun at my car.

As I got close to him, he lifted his head from the gun and stuck up 3 fingers and looked me in the eye !!

Does this mean I'm going to get 3 points??????

I was doing 40-43mph and I thought it was a 40 zone??

Arrggghhh, does this mean I'm going to get a nice Christmas card through the post?!?!?!

Could mean the limit is 30.
Could mean you were 3 over the 40 limit.
Only time will tell.
Lot of speed awareness courses being offered at the moment which cost £85 so don't fret just yet. They reckon it's more effective in stopping speeding.

Visual bking to tell you the limit was 30. Was it a handheld laser with no attached paraphernalia? You would have been pulled over if they wanted a chat/to stick you on.

But surely most speedos is few mph too quick anyway if it was a 40mph limit?

Had the same about 10 years ago it means 30, and I was speeding, it was a warning to slow and a reminder that I was in a 30 limit

Speedos can over-read by up to 10% but are not allowed to under-read. So if the copper was saying 43, it was likely the speedo was showing up to 4mph more... so that's never going to be an excuse.

If you thought you were doing just two mph over the limit, you should have indicated this back to him in the same way.
