Hi,

I’m thinking of maybe having my front bumper of my Z4M repainted, just to get rid of a few light stonechips. There aren’t too many, but the rest of the car is like new, so it bugs me they’re still there!

I’ve only had one quote so far, from a local paint shop that specialise in high end stuff and do a lot of classic restorations and such like. They have classic Ferrari’s they’ve restored on their website, so I was expecting to pay a bit more for their expertise. However, they’ve come back with a quote of £1,121 to repair stone chips and paint the bumper and bonnet and blend into wings. This is a lot higher than I’d thought. What are your opinions on this price? I’m in the south if that makes any difference to price. I know we like to pay a bit more for things down here! smile

Cheers,

Dan

Nah!

To be fair, my dad still has a VX220 Turbo. That needs paint work too.

That price is about twice what you should pay for the best of the best jobs. We get ours done for about £300 and you'd never notice any colour differences. He's based down near Dorchester so not too far for you if you want his details; he does all of the local BMW work as well.

ETA: He did a fair bit of work on my Ferrari too and when it was inspected before it was sold they had nothing but praise for its condition.

Thanks, yes, I'd be interested in having his details. I'd rather had it stonechipped than have a bad respray so I am a bit apprehensive!

OP. There's a chap I know in Basingstoke, who does an absolutely excellent job of re-sprays and panel repairs.

When my son "coloured in" the back of my S4 Avant with a stone, he charged me £150 to repair & it was absolutely excellent.

Likewise, I hit a deer a couple of years ago in my current car & he repaired it (including straightening and blowing in panels) for £220 iirc.

Let me know if you want his details.
