Help ! Urgent !

Good evening to everybody,
My 4.5 is stucked... (i'm in France)
I explain the case ;
I hadn't drive the car for 6 weeks as the starter wasn't working.
I've tried many times to start the engine...
And, what would happen happened : out of battery.
The garagist changed today the starter but the car doesn't want to start.
The fuel pump can be heard, but there's no ignition.
It seems to be an electrical problem.
He checked the big fuse, all the fuses, the starter has been checked too.
But nothing happens when the black button is pressed.
Maybe the immobiliser, the famous one...

I would like to help him by giving him some ideas.

he knows very well the cerbera as one guy of his team has one (a RR).

For him, the immobiliser avoids the fuel pump to start. But that is not the case as it could be heard.

Any idea or recommendantion about this figure ?

I'm not a mechanic but I have had a problem starting my Cerb because the battery was old and did not give 10 - 12 volts even after it had been re-charged. It does not start with less than 10v.

You may have looked at this already but check the battery you use has a full 12v.

Start with simple things first. Then you will need someone who knows more than me after that.

That sounds like the immobiliser.

Tell the mechanic to try tapping the immobiliser while pressing the black button and it may start.

By-pass the immobiliser and see if it cures it.

Hold the black button in for 2 minutes and 17 seconds.

not hotwiring as still will lock and unlock and you still have a key to put in dash just helping as worked on tvr 4 14 years thanks

i understand so well that it exists so precious informations about our cerbies.
i do know the secret entry and won't explain it.
i used it today to open my car cause out of battery.
If somebody can help, maybe it's better by private mail.
We don't know so well as yourselves the cerbies in France...

When i hear about steering lock, it makes me wondering as i was sure that it was impossible.
The silver key puts me too in trouble, cause Simon from Fernhurst, when i bought the car, told me to never touch it.
If you think it's better for me to ask him directly, i will do it without problem.
I was just thinking it would be faster to ask for some helps from you.

Yes never post how it's done but the OP knows how to bypass the immobiliser, which if that's at fault would get him going.

sorry if i've upset any 1 i've not said how to get past alarm as he has a remote and this will not bye pass this part of system it will still go off and won't stop !!!!

I have had this, unplug the ignition box in the boot and plug it back in a few seconds later then try starting.

Hello everybody,
I knew that my question was difficult to answer...
First cause the problem is not so simple.
Second cause it's one of the point that nobody wants to everybody as bad guys to know and stole for example out cars.
Sorry for that!
Ok, my car started in the noon ; the garagist don't know why, but it started.
I'm in Paris to answer to that previous question.
Last point: FERNHURST didn't know how to solve the problem and gave me the "Carl" contact.
If it happens again, i Will call him.
Not so simple for a french Guy to talk in english about technical issues.
But, i have to force myself!

Hope really that this story won't make me considered as a thief or a naughty Guy.
PH forum is a great help for me, as i own one cerbera and one 2500m from 1972 (with the rear cortina lenses so quite very rare and nearly unique in France where are only 3 like this ONE).

Jaydom, please try this it is a recognised fix to this problem and could save you hours tracing a fault that is just a control box needing to be reset.

I have had thsi problem twice and both times fixed by this method that I was advised of on the very forum.

If you have already tried it I will get back in my box.

some good news...
It was only the battery that was totally flat and out of electricity.
I've searched by myself what was the problem, hesitating between the battery and the alternator.
I've checked everything, and it was only the battery !

One of my friend, who is electrician specialized in alarm, checked everything on my car.

Everything is correct too on this side.

So, normally, no worries about this.

Many thanks again even if it was touchy to talk about the point that i've had asked about !
