S2 has developed a very annoying habit of occasionally cutting out when stopping at give way signs or traffic lights. Does not do it regularly but enough to make you notice that its a fault.

I'm currentley thinking - possible intermitant faulty anti stall device - (does it have a seperate one?)

Most the time its good as gold just now and then...

Anyone else had it?

or more to the point had it and fixed it?

Cheers in advance?

Likely suspects are the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve, throttle position sensor, or wiring connectors to the above. Try taking off the IAC and cleaning it, then check all the connections to the IAC, throttle pot and various engine senders are secure.

Be careful when re-fitting the IAC, as the bottom screw is easy to drop!

Sounds exactly like that - had a mini which did something similar a while ago and this was the thing that caused it (well might not have been exact same part but symptoms and solution were resolved in a similar way).

coil, plugs or qan alarm problem would be my diagnosis.

I think the others are barking up the wrong tree.

No its not an electrical 'cut out' more a fade (a quick let the clutch out will restart it intstantly if you are still moving).

But will check anyway!

Cheers

Cheers for the good news !

I think all lotus cars are sold with several bad tempered gremlins that live in the bodywork voids; rattling lost change, unscerwing bits, and disconecting cables.

I'll see if I can flush one out and discuss with it the error of its ways (with a large spanner).
