Hoping To Become "Wedged"
Discussion
Hi all,
I am sure that there is nothing new about my request and you regulars have heard it a thousand times but here goes anyway.
I have been seduced into the idea that I cannot go on living having never owned a wedge so I have begun my quest to seek out the best possible beast for my needs.
As funds are somewhat limited I am quite willing to wait until I can find the right car at the right price.
I am looking for at least a 350i but would love to go to a 390 or 400SE budget at present would be around the 5- 6000 but by this time next year could be 8-9000?
What I am looking for, is perhaps to find a current owner/s in this vicinity (worcestershire/West Mids)who would be happy proffer help and advice regarding possible purchases and perhaps to attend TVR meetings with - I look forward to any advice etc. constructive or amusing!

Q: Is premature acceleration a bad thing?

Welcome wedgeless. If you havent already done so, look at the thread at the top of this page 'National Wedge Meeting' It might just be your lucky weekend!! There is due to be around 80 wedges, all meeting up near you in two weeks time......
Bring ya chequebook, money talks
(not that I'm selling but others may be persuaded) But do come along, this is the best opportunity any potential Wedge owner could ask for. Even if you don't uncover a suitable steed, you can certainly look over a couple

Welcome wedgeless
Good choice in TVR old chap.
You seem to be going about this way the right way, unlike me who bought the 1st car he saw!! T'was the noise that sold it
Maybe as mentioned you can make our BBWF meeting in Ettington Chase? 80+ wedges all in the same place
You will certainly be able to talk to a lot of experienced and knowledgable people, as well as look over all the cars.
If you do make it and fancy a spin
give me a shout. Good luck.

Would be interested in details and viewing/test run.
Thanks also for the offers, Waynester and Andy, might well take you up on them!

does anyone know this car?
Looks good-ish to me and I like the colour any thoughts gratefully received as you can see there isnt much time to make up my mind and it is awfully tempting but I am desperately trying to do the sensible thing and view as many as possible before buying

HelpYeah, I find PAS is nice.
To a certain extent you have to just buy and live with it: with only a couple of thousand cars in total, you don't exactly have the choice that you would with most other makes/ models.
The 350i DHC is the most common Wedge IIRC (about 800) but there is a wide range of condition!
Then there's the colour/ trim: I rejected an Esprit on the grounds that the oxblood red interior made it look like an explosion in a bloodbank. Mind you the 'biscuit' one I ended up with isn't THAT much better....
and TVR interiors can be the same.
I think the problem is that it's easy to get suckered in (by yourself!) by thinking 'ah well, it's the wrong colour, I'll just have it retrimmed' and then finding that it isn't a cheap option.
My advice: either decide on a particular model and preferred colour/ spec., then wear blinkers till the right one comes along, or buy the first car you 'feel' pretty much fits the bill and live with the consequences.
But don't come to us moaning when it leaks, or the trim rattles, or it only does 14mpg 'cos you drive everywhere in 3rd listening to the pipe....

My black 350 is very soon up for sale as the 400 has taken precidence. Just waiting for re mot after new steering uj's. Most things like suspension / brakes / bonnet / wheels / cooling system have ben upgraded in readiness for a large engine swap, but the 400 came along inbetween ,so no engine swap now.
Very sound car and have been told looks quite good too. Email if you want pictures , history etc etc
