Selling a "chersished plate"
Discussion
I bought a scooter with a personal plate on and as it has no meaning to me, I made a few enquiries on the net and, subsequently had an offer.
I was offered £400. Thats the fiure I would receive, all transfer costs, including a new plate on my scoot were covered, and I would receive £400.
I asked for more, and was then offered £450. The guy at the company told me he has the buyer waiting, and has sent me the paperwork.
My realy question is how much commission will this company be adding on top?
Cheers

I dont want to offend you but the plate is realistically worth about as much as it would cost to transfer it (on a very good day) hence the reason the previous keeper did not bother retaining it. But i hope you get the £450 for it as that would be a real bonus, a bit like the tax rebate i got through the post unexpectedly this morning!

I've had the contract through saying they have a buyer. All I need to do is sign and return it. Apparently??
Dear Mr. Whatnow. I'm sorry to inform you that our buyer has pulled out of the purchase of your number plate. However we will continue to market the plate for you in the hope of securing another buyer in due course.
Or am I just a cynic?
Best of luck, and let us know how it turns out.

(And why doesn't formatting work on this site anymore!?
)Welcome to the the world of flogging personal numbers, a blind transation to beat them all . I have sold plates for many thousands of pounds. Simple really, irrespective of the sale price from the dealer to the purchaser, are you happy with the return, if so, sell, if not dont sell. Good Luck

Just check whos paying the retention fee..currently £125 i recall.
It's £105 maximum. £80 of which is the transfer fee, £25 the retention fee. I have a plate on retention, the transfer fee was paid upon purchase from the DVLA, the retention fee due in February will be £25. Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
