GoPro HD for timelapse

Does anyone use a GoPro HD for time-lapse? I want to use one when on road trips to record the route and what goes on. I assume it's ok for this?

Is there anywhere you can get one for less than £170? I don't need the HD2 (unless it's cheap!).
