I'm looking for one of these to replace my Elise 111s, as we have a second child on the way.
In the PH classifieds they seem to fall into 3 camps:
Private - 9.5 - 13.5k
Private optimistic = up to 16k ish
Trade - between 9.5k (CPOS) to £22k ish, with increasingly desperate offers of "free servicing", useless warranties that are as about as much good as trying to light toilet paper to start a fire after you've pissed on it.
Almost all have been for sale for absolutely weeks and weeks, months and months and re-advertised many times - are there any genuine cars out there? Feel free to PM me if you've looked at any of these and they're not exactly what you were expecting
Otherwise I'll end up buying something as dull as a 911 or M5, unreliable as a Maserati 4200, chavvy as an Evo FQ400 or as old man as a Jag XKR

If you are serious about buying a Cerb I'm sure you'll cross paths with the right one in good time. Not the best time of year to try one out tbh, I struggle to get the power down when it's dry let alone winter looming, try one in summer and nothing comes close.
Why not get that Evo, fine cars btw very very capable and poss the quickest cars A to B out there, just never forget it sticks to the road with a lot of unhuman help (No1 son forgot that once = dead Evo). Come back in the spring to scratch that itch, just don't think a cerb that has had £10k spent on it over the last few years can be had for £9.5k though....

Probably a mid-term owner here, 6 years... but compared to some (Gazzab;))maybe I'm still a newbie!

Guess its a known car (what exactly DOES that mean?). Certainly got a lot of history through well known channels (Austec, APM, Racing Green etc etc), and is pretty well sorted.

Yep, don't be in a rush (took me the best part of two years to get one) and act quickly when you see one you like.
I've had mine for nearly four years, longest I've had a car, and don't plan to sell until I have to. That would change if it was a daily runner though, for me familiarity breeds contempt.
As for prices, go out and look at a few. Nothing much is moving now, cos of the recession and with Christmas around the corner, so just because one's been on the market for a while doesn't mean it's a bad example. You often find some peaches in out of the way places, simply because a lot of people can't be bothered to travel to look at them.
I think it's fair to say most owners on here would sell if they got what they considered a fair/better than fair price for their P&J, irrespective of whether it was actually for sale. If you do see one that ticks all the boxes but it isn't for sale, why not ask the owner what he wants for it? Cars change hands regularly that aren't advertised at all - I bought one of mine that way and got it for a great price.
Generally though it's about how keen someone is to sell. There are plenty of people with good 4.5s who when they sell won't be in a hurry to do so, hence will advertise it for a good price and expect to get it.
Til then, your best bet is to scan on here every few hours and hope one of us cops for a hefty tax bill/gambling debt or develops a serious drug problem and needs to sell their minter sharpish for peanuts

Always wanted a TVR in Grigio Titanio and Nimbus Hide after seeing a Griff 500SE in it years ago (No 87 I believe) - then in Oct this year a low mileage, excellent condition Cerb in the colours came up so I just went for it and had it back in my garage in under a week.

Three years!? Sold my Griff 3 years ago and been waiting for the perfect Cerb to come up since then. not sure I can wait that long!My 2003 4.5 in red bull blue is currently cosseted in a warm garage in its new soft blue cover and Accumate battery conditioner having been tended to by Joolz recently meaning it is properly tuned and prepared for next summer. It has covered less than 500 miles since May. I could be tempted to part with it if the credentials of the potential owner were sufficiently aligned to continuing the standards my Cerbera has become accustomed to

We got our Chimaera in April 2001, within 6 months started looking for the Cerbera in the colour combo we wanted. Stopped looking for a while due to new house etc, but finally got the Cerbera in 2010. not sure I can wait that long!OK so had I have been less fussy on colour combo I'd have found one sooner, but it had to be a 4.5 (different argument;)) and it had to be the right colour. As it happened the one I bought lived about 12 miles away.

500 mile in 8 months ain't good for cerberas. All your telling me is your drying your rubbers and seals out. Get it driven man and save its life!Phil. said:
Yep. agreed. Which, even though I chose very carefully and bought it as a keeper, it may have to go to a better home 
Oh sir dont do it........really sometimes it is hard to justify our cars if they are not used much.my job,home life,and so many other things,take up so much time....its my orange tvr cerbera v8 4.5 that keeps a smile on my face when i get those what is it all about moments

I did it once before and regretted it so I know what it feel like. But my family/work circumstances are unlikely to change in near future so I have to face up to my responsibilities. I even just bought a £200 soft cover for it! I'm not rushing in to a sale but if an enthusiast is serious they can pm me for details.
