I live in Scotland and just discovered a big wasp buzzing around my room! I always thought they "died off" during the winter, whatever that means?

This guy was a tricky one, and I had to manufacture a sophisticated trap consisting of a saucer, some sugar and an extendable stick. He fell for it and the glass was over the saucer before he knew what was happening. Boom! Man 1, Beast 0. smile

He seemed to be enjoying the sugar, so I let him refuel for a short while before letting him go out the window. Are wasps in winter common? I don't think I can ever recall seeing one this deep into winter.

We opened a location case the other day and found 2 very large (possibly queens) in a docile like state curled up in some paper.

Vile piece of st beings!

Queens looking to go dormant. Always a good time to empty some cans of wasp murdering spray in the loft/shed/etc.

Any that survive will make a nest at or near their winter hideout. Kill them all.

Thought the same thing the other day when I found one sat on the window ledge!
