I have Sonos with a bridge attached to my router and Sonos controller on the desktop.

I have speakers plugged into my PC

Can I set Sonos up so my PC becomes a 'Zone'? It seems silly to go out and buy a Play3 etc when everything is already on the PC.

I have played around withe software but can't work it out.

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Jason

In a word, 'no'.

Your PC is now your controller .. just the same as an iPod/iPhone/iPad would be a controller. These can't be used a source or zone.

Not sure why you'd want to do this anyway? Surely you'd just junk the bridge and use iTunes/Napster/Spotify/VLC player or whatever and stream music to your PC and use its own speakers??

That's fine until you want to synchronise the music with other zones!

Exactly, yesterday I was listening to music in the kitchen then wanted to go to the office to work but could transfer the playlist accross (my playlists are help in Sonos)

Seems crazy when the actually Sonos Controller software is on the PC, but hey I suppose that's how they ensure you buy their hardware otherwise people would just buy PCs instead of Zone controllers (or whatever they are called these days.)

Yep. I have actually got a ZP90 attached to the same speakers as my Mac because I use this feature a lot. It does seem a bit of a waste of £200 when I have gota fully-functioning iTunes/Spotify player right there anyway!
