How much does a 16" alloy wheel weigh

Hi all

After some recent tyre swapping activity with my off roader, I have a set of disco 1 alloys left over. I have been quoted £300 per tonne for them, but have no idea how much they weigh. Any thoughts?

Well the standard 16" fronts on my Elise apparently weigh just under 7kg each.

Stick them on ebay with no reserve - you'll probably get quite a lot more than you would scrap.

get more money selling them on ebay rather than scrap value. @ 300 £ per tonne, 50 kgs = £15.

A decent scrapyard should be paying close to or over £800 per tonne for alloy wheels at the moment.

I would imagine a disco alloy rim would weigh somewhere in the order of 10kg,maybe try one on your bathroom scales if you have a set.

I got about £9 for the last 16" alloy I weighed in. The scrappy I use pays less if the alloy is "dirty", that is the valve & wheel weights are attached.
