Well if they can beat the service Beverley office gave I would very surprised. I used this office on a few occasions when I lived in the East coast. Parking was easy and it took minutes when transferring plates. A sad loss !

If, and I appreciate it is a huge "if", they can follow this up with improvements to how things operate at Swansea, then this can only be a good thing. Plenty of businesses operate much larger operations, with less people, and less offices. Take a big insurance company like Admiral as an example - they don't need lots of satellite offices to operate, they have systems in place that on the whole work adequately.

DVLA seemed to be getting their act together prior to the big theft of blank V5s that resulted in the decision to reissue the new red version. Perhaps once that process is complete, things will improve again.

Sorry to say it will not improve. At a local office they have humans who whne you get to speak to them are reasonable. At Swansea once you have got past the first line of defence that is their automated phone system, then you still have to find a, the right person, and b, the right person who is willing to speak with you and help. On the occasions I have tried to get Swansea to help it has proved impossible. The other thing DVLA offices do is inspect Cars after IVA for registration, will these all have to go to Swansea? Personally I would close Swansea and keep the local centres

They could get local VOSA officers to do that, or station the required staff at official HGV testing stations.

Inspection was the first thing I wondered about. But since it seems completely superfluous, since VOSA have already done it at IVA, and most people's experiences of it seem to vary between "unhelpful" and "obstructive to the point of costing you an extra 200 quid", sounds like no loss to me.

Of course, in actuality they'll probably make everyone go to swansea...
