Track day adventure?

I'm curious...

How many people would be interested in participating in a 'value-added' track day?

For example: Getting together with a bunch of PHers and spending two nights away in some suitably accommodating venue. Wine, dine and banter on both evenings. On the day itself, a full, open-pitlane day on track. The location could be a UK track, but a little further out of the way than where most of us head regularly, e.g. Angelsey. Or possibly one of the nearer European circuits, e.g. Abbeville.

It would be professionally organised by an appropriate TDO.

I'm making this up as I type - so I don't have a fixed idea of anything. It wouldn't be a cheap trackday - it's not going to be £99! - but the package as a whole would represent good value. And the PH cameraderie would be regarded as important as the driving round in circles bit.

I'm equally keen to understand the 'why' from both people who vote yay or nay too!

Folembray in France, while not the worlds finest track, it's a giggle for a hoon and in the Champagne region. I've been before, it was fun, maybe worth a look?

The key element in my mind is having it somewhere that all participants have to travel to and therefore stay and socialise before/after.

France checks many boxes:
- close enough, but far enough away that everyone travels.
- they have race circuits.
- we've done it before, and it was brilliant (see my previous post).

I would be up for this on the proviso it isn't in May, as i've just booked a trackday at Spa in May.

I'd be up for anywhere on the continent that isn't too tiring to get to.

Just a thought but Zandvoort in Holland is really easy, ferry over and an easy run from the Hook.

Excellent idea. Those of us up North could use Newcastle - Amsterdam or Hull - Rotterdam and those in the South could use Harwich - Hoek or the usual Dover crossings.

I think distance is an important factor, especially for those who run their track car on the road. Not only can they be bloody uncomfortable over a long distance, but the risk of it not being in a great state for the return journey has to be considered.

Yeah i'd agree with that. However, if you were to pick Spain for example, i'd happily have a few hours on the party boat to Santander to break up the Journey

Spa isn't too far at all. Even from Calais it's a comfortable 3-4 hour drive

Me too, but there's plenty of provision in the market for that circuit already.

Zandvoort is a great suggestion for the melting pot; I've watched many great clips on Youtube of racing there. And I hadn't considered Spain at all!
