DB9 2006MY

I'm looking at buying a DB9 Volante, I have bought the book The Difinitive Guide to AM.

I see that there was a slight upgrade on the 2006MY, I was looking at a late Nov 2005 car, but that did not have the upgrades fitted.

So question is, when did they start to produce the 2006 model.

Is it really that surprising that a 2005 car doesn't have the same spec as a 2006 model?

George, I think he's implying that cars manufactured during the later half of 2005 were probably registered in 2006, so at what point did the upgrades actually hit the production line?

Usually the new model year cars start to get built around August time. It's not unusual for a car registered in late 2005 to be a MY06 car. Saying that, a lot of cars will not sell and will be registered later. For instance, on Autotrader, there's a few MY08 Vantages registered in 2009 (and confusing the hell out of a dealer when you point out it's a MY08 car "No, it was registered in 2009 so it must be an 09 car" says the poor confused dealer).

One if the advantages of getting 2005 car is that your road tax will be a fraction of what you pay on a post-2005 car.

I'd be more surprised, if a late 05 car DIDN'T have the same specs as early 06 cars

The DB9 was a sought after new model with a long waiting list in 2005, so I would be surprised if any languished in dealer showrooms as they do today.

What were these upgrades? Just options becoming standard kit?

Yes the upgrades were items becoming standard, and a few minor trim changes.

I don't think the extra couple of hundred pounds a year in road tax on a 2006 is going to make much difference to running cost.

I always thought manufacturers released the next years models in the September or October.

It looks like I'm going to have to check individual cars to if they have been updated.
