peugot 307 clutch problems

my friends 2003 307 1.6i makes a high pitched noise when he pushes the throttle. but his uncle says its the clutch breaking but the noise seems to come from the engine. doesnt seem to be any power loss or gear change problems. does anybody know anything or can help ?

The main part of the gearbox/clutch to squeal is the thrust bearing. Run the car at idle and check for a noise then press the clutch. If there is a noise that goes away when you press the clutch pedal then it is the thrust bearing which will eventually fail but the whole clutch has to be changed as one bit and the gearbox has to come out to do it.

If it squeals when you start it up then check the alternator belt. Have you done any basic checks first?

sorry for late reply took the car out and worked out the gearbox and clutch are on there way out so gonna replace both on saturday thanks for the help though
