VIN weirdness....

I'm stateside currently and about to buy a new car....whilst waiting for the dealer to get the vehicle history report I'm unable to get any info searching the VIN myself, and another dealer said it has a surpising lack of info (usually delivery mileage would be on there along with the first owner info). I've not dealt with this before and wondered if the PH collective could help get to the bottom of it...
