I'm looking for one at the moment. Go for the 4.2V8, the earlier 4.0 can suffer problems. Also the 4.2 is the later model with the nicer interior.
Other than that they seem pretty much bullet proof. There a jaguar forum with lots of info on them (dont have the link on this laptop but googel is your friend).
Cheap as chips and lots of toys !

Door window upright trims prone to rusting, easy remove paint refit.
Door window lift mechanisms can/do fail, seems more of a problem if not used (rears)
Sill panels prone to rust, esp round rear jacking lip, easy to plate and reweld
All minor body problems, not sure on the mechanical side of stuff though.

Check out rear suspension arm bushes for wear. They have a bush that is not serviced seperatly making replacement of the arm necessary and expensive. Even the copy stuff from euro car parts are expensive.
Poly bushes do them but these are not the same spec as std. Many garages wont take his work as the arms alloy and hard to press.

There is guide on one of the jag forums about how to replace the bushes and where to buy them from so in theory this doesnt have to be an expensive job. Finding someone to do the work could be a problem I guess.Poly bushes do them but these are not the same spec as std. Many garages wont take his work as the arms alloy and hard to press.
