The site does have some 18+ content, so be careful at work.

Start with a budget ($50,000 IIRC) to buy a stock car with, things like Civics etc. Then tune up to do drag races to earn more money. You can adjust gearing ratios, nitrous boost. The drag race requires you to change gear and accelerate, but you can blow your engine! So be careful. It also has a save feature so you can go back at a later date to continue.
