Hi Folks,

Just wanted to post up some info for people who might be having issues with their Humax Freeview PVRs .. Models 9150, 9300 , and some 9200s .

Some broadcast changes were made on the UK DTT platform yesterday which has caused the above models to lock on one channel after being on for 35-45 seconds. Unfortunately the PVR will not operate until the product is switched OFF at the mains and back on again, but the problem will continue to happen.

These are only affected if they are on old software (manufactured before June 2010) and have not received any Over Air download.

The only solution to the issue is to carry out a software update either Manually from the Menus or using the Automatic update procedure..for this the PVR must be left in standby overnight during the model’s Over the Air Digital broadcast, which will pick up the update and install it automatically.

The following Over the Air Downloads have been booked so you will need to carry out the update during the times the updates are on air. After the update is received and installed there should be no further issues.

Hope this makes sense and helps anyone out there.

Software updates:

•PVR-9150T version 1.02.26 (Broadcast)

Ending: 17/12/2011 @ 9am

Hi Steve

I have an interest in this

Is this for all Regions? Or have you just had a retune?

I know when they moved one of our muxes onto rf67 down here in mendip it caused no end of software bother!
Ive had the DMOL stuff through and can only see the addition of adult playboy on mux A/SDN

Cheers
Nick

Hi Nick,

Tbh I'm not too sure .. I think I may have come across too technically minded! biglaugh
I'm an indi retailer and have been selling ,installing ,and looking after my customer's PVRs for about 6 years but don't kno too much technical stuff nuts
We too had problems approaching the change-over, which caused them to freeze or operate very slow , and had to update manually a lot of customers PVRs via my netbook/software and R232 lead.
As far as I'm aware the updates are not local and is for the whole of the UK at the times posted above.

We've not had a retune or moving of stations ( since the change-over ), this is just for the software.
Sorry for being non-technical! If I can help any further just ask.

Ill see how many calls i get from customers.

I dont know why humax get all the praise? This sort of stuff is always happening on their freeview stuff. I used to buy humax for customers, but no longer do, its me that gets the call out for their inability to write software! Never had this problem with panny or sony hdd/pvr stuff!

Ive had discussions with them at trade shows, its basically a case of we are geeks and we are ok with it,cant understand why you have problems?
Or my other bug with them
Me: you should make it easy to use like sky plus
Them: we dont want it to be like sky plus, we want it to have its own identity.
Me: well if you make it for geeks then guess whose going to buy it.......

I mean its logical if you are 75 to look for your recordings by pressing the media button!
Mr Murdoch must be rubbing his grubby hands

I do kno what u mean ,it is annoying .. I do a fair amount of running around to my customers too but thankfully it doesnt happen that often , and to be fair I find them at least helpful providing me with software etc .
Having sold their PVRs for 6 years , and even their own Tvs up to a few years ago ,they seem to show they care about the independants and can help with issues and support with software and backup , more than any of your big names.
I have found Panasonic ( not had any experience with Sony ) couldn't give a stuff cos we are small and don't do £60k a yr with them ! mad Kno many a customer I have won over due to Pan's terrible service of sending away/ returning said DVD recorder / still faulty / re-returning to service place / returning still faulty.... and so on .
Humax have a 48hr swapover policy , and give the customer a 2yr guarantee which in this day and age isn't bad. Btw I kno I sound like I work for Humax , promise you I dont biggrin but I have found them the easiest and best to sell .. only downfall is we just cant get the prices the big stores get , but hope to make it up with providing a quality service.
Anyway .. kinda gone off topic here biggrin

Oh and on the PVR remotes there's a Playlist button which when you press and all your recordings are there .. easy smile

As there seem to be a few Humax folk here, any reports of issues on audio of This is England 88 last night.

Seemed like at some point there were just the effects channels coming through both front speakers. Later in the program it appeared to be centre channel only on the right speaker only.

Adverts as usual were loud and clear. A couple of other folk have mentioned it in the this is England thread.
Mine is Freeview HD anothers was Freesat HD.

Appears it was Ok on SD and i've now tried on 4OD and sound is fine, (shame i didn't think of this before and using subtitile).

Hopefully this isn't some bug in decoding. I only use stereo so no idea if the surround speaker output was wrong.
PS tried through anologue and digital outputs in stereo mode.
