Chirac banged up (nearly)
Discussion
BBC just said Jacques Chirac has been handed a 2yr suspended jail term for corruption as Mayor of Paris for handing out non-existent jobs to his mates. Appaz he didn't attend the trial as he's a bit forgetful these days.
Which reminds me, I wonder how Baroness Uddin is getting on with paying back the money she swindled out of taxpayers (using taxpayers' money to make the repayments, of course).
Ah, it makes you glad to be alive!

That is quite frightening if you are in the French government as most of your staff are carrying out non existant jobs.Which reminds me, I wonder how Baroness Uddin is getting on with paying back the money she swindled out of taxpayers (using taxpayers' money to make the repayments, of course).

It's even more frightening to know that this has been going on for 20 years and that if you were the boss of a medium sized business fiddling a few Euros (Francs at the time) you'd be banged up in no time for 10 years and that's after you've been stripped of all your assets. The French does not laugh about such things

Same with all the Italian bankers who once they reach the right level in their bank suddenly develop a new hobby of Alpine walking with heavily weighted back packs.
... unless you're Jack.Luckily the back packs are much lighter on the walk back over the Swiss border into Italy.

And now the French Finance Minister has said the UK economy should be downgraded before the French one because er ours is worse than theirs innit. I'm really enjoying the high level of debate.
He could be right. Our economy is still recovering from fighting in the second world war

I know nothing about banking and have flexible morals; if I learn italian I should be a shoo-in for one of those jobs. Where do they advertise?Luckily the back packs are much lighter on the walk back over the Swiss border into Italy.
