Does anyone know anything about this 993 with a gemballa converstion. 500 bhp, 2 wheel drive, lhd, 55000 miles fsh.german and uk. hpi clear.
It was on ebay but i got hold of the seller via email and he wants 28k for it as his gallardo is arrivng in the next couple of weeks.
Any help much appreciated as im really thinking about chopping the boxster in as i miss my 965 so much and i think this will be a great replacment.

500bhp conversion on what? what was the base car? A 993 turbo? in which case it looks cheap providing it is in good condition.

Looks narrow body to me Daz, and only 2wd - So base car would have had to be a normal C2 wouldn't it?

That's some power increase to 500 bhp - What was done to the motor I wonder?

Would be very interesting to see if they did anything internally to the engine, having presumable strapped qa pair of turbos on to get the extra power.

PS - Hey, Domster have you considered selling the 964RS? this car could make an interesting replacement for similar money.

Looks like it has the 'Turbo' badge on the back.

Thanks pesty, the green is a bit too much green for me and unfortunately i dont think its a genuine s as there are no scopes in the rear wings and the price doesnt reflect an s either. nice one for looking though. i think the boxster has spoilt me for modernism and the 993 is that much more refined than the 964. although great i think the 993 with 2 turbos will keep me entertained now.
any news on you getting a porsche?

No mate. I have just blown a load of cash on another toy

As for cars I bought an Integra Type R which is quite entertaining if underpowered and slow as Foook.

I will have a Porsche there is no question just not for a while yet.

I have no idea of Porsche prices and I didnt know this was possible.

Are there regularly deals around like this?

Thanks TC, but not yet.
That sort of decision tends to take me a while.

Im just surprised that they can be had for that price. I would have guessed that any 993 with turbos would be over the £40K mark (and so well beyond any future purchase for me).

I would really look into this car,,Gembella have a good reputation for sure, but how much of this car is Gembella?

If it is a C2 has the shell been seam welded for strength?,,,have a couple of Turbos been strapped to a standard 3.6 lump? what about the drive train...Even porsche improved the gearbox on '97 TT models as first gear synchros were breaking.

It may well be a bargain or it may well be a serious headache...I am not assuming either but would scrutinise the car with an experienced specialist more intensely than i would a regular C2...good luck.

cs, you re very right. I must look in to the car as dusty says a normal turbo 993 would be in the late 30's to 40's. Will let you know if i go ahead with it.

I was guessing though. I haven't even looked at 993 turbos since I already know I cant afford them!

Don,

I can appreciate the views about checking out the drivetrain etc, but having spent a long time looking in to this for my own 993 conversion, I'm not convinced it is an issue. I met a guy last week who has c. 550 bhp on his 993. The running gear is standard C4 and he has done over 20,000 withn no problems. If you wanted an unbiased opinion, suggest you speak to Colin at Ninemeister (he did the conversion and will be fettling mine), as he is the expert.

I don't doubt your post, but at the same time find it a little to comprehend..if standard 993 C4 running gear can handle 550bhp wny do Porsche bother to upgrade various components for the standard 408bhp turbo.
The first thing I would do with standard C4 running gear would be to upgrade to the turbo big red brakes and brake booster.
The gembella picture appears to be well covered in the braking department.

Well the guy doesnt seem to want to tell me anything about the conversion. I asked him twice to send me some info but nothing in return. He was offering a px deal on my car. after sending him a picture he replied saying he liked the car very much. If anyone does speak to him or go and have a look then i would love to know the outcome.
