Sonos Problems
Discussion
Anyone clued up on Sonos Zones?
I've currently got 3 set up (third one put in today) and all were going well. I was controlling them with the iPad and iPhone for a couple of hours no problems. Suddenly they have all vanished and can't be found at all
I have a Zp90 wired to my router (bt home hub), zp120 and a play 5 both wireless.
I have tried searching for them using the computer wired into it, the iPad and iPhone but no joy

Was it working Ok before hand?
Could be wifi interference or network address clashes.
Submit a support call to sonos as they are exellent at supporting the end user. Alternatively where are u bases as there are a number of us dealers here who may be able to help after the madness that is the christmas.

As above, make sure your wireless router and Sonos are in different channels - at least 3 apart.
Make sure your router is NOT on 20+40Mhz. It should be on 20 only so as not to squeeze out Sonos.
Finally....! Reboot the entire system.... Router off and all Sonos components at the mains. Router back on, and then each Sonos component.
Should be fixed.

Thanks again for the input. I think I've solved the problem.
I upgraded all firmware in all controllers and fully rebooted everything. The wifi problem oddly looks like it was linked to the TV. Is it possible it would block the wifi now and again?
I did have it placed behind the TV, but I've moved it more into a 'line of sight' place.. Touch wood, all ok so far,
However I have still lost all my Sonos Playlists. Can these be found?
You won't beleive how much time I've spent on this, and how close I came to boxing it all up!!

Just so you know, Sonos does not operate on your home wireless system, it creates it's own wireless mesh, an entirely separate network. However, it can be squeezed out by your router if it's on 20+40Mhz.I upgraded all firmware in all controllers and fully rebooted everything. The wifi problem oddly looks like it was linked to the TV. Ideally Sonos will pick up your iTunes playlisist - were you only using Sonos playlists? I'll see if I can find where Sonos playlists are stored, I have an idea they're stored within Sonos components - but I might be wrong.
Edited to add:
Yep, I was right. Sonos playlists are held within each Sonos component. So you're better off importing playlists (creating them somewhere else like iTunes) and that way you'll always have a back up.

Thanks for that. I take it the Sonos channel and my wifi channel should be different?
As for the playlists, can I just set up a playlist in iTunes and import it? That would be easier, although I guess that's limited to my personal music, and not Napster music..
Yes, set your wifi to 1 and your Sonos to 11. Or just keep them apart by at least 3. Whilst Sonos is not on your routers wireless network, your router can squeeze it out - so keep them separate. As for the playlists, can I just set up a playlist in iTunes and import it? Yes, set up your playlists in iTunes (for your personal music) and Sonos will import them. Have Sonos rescan your library for the playlists to appear.
For Napster (I don't use it), you should be able to create playlists within Napster shouldn't you? Maybe not. Just be aware that Sonos playlists (as far as I'm aware) will be deleted in the event of a reset.
Find the IP address of a Sonos component and enter:
http://192.168.1.XXX:1400/support/review
Into your web browser - using your last 3 digits in XXX above. Then click on 'network matrix' when the information comes up.... This will show you how your sonos network is communicating. Green is good.

Seems like some knowledgeable folk here...
I have just installed a Bridge, 5 & 3 and set up using my PC. Working fine and pleased. Then set up on the iPad which worked fine but soon stopped (1 hour or so). I have uninstalled and reinstalled and gone through the set up (press the button for it to link) but the iPad never finds the Bridge or either the 3 or 5 if I then try them, despite being next to them.
Stumped. Still works fine from Desktop but not from iPad and I have also tried installing on Android phone but again won't link there. Any suggestions please? Does seem a great system but want to regain control from iPad.

Your iPad wireless is on - of course. Hmmm, not sure why.... Are you using a firewall? Is Sonos being blocked?I have just installed a Bridge, 5 & 3 and set up using my PC. Working fine and pleased. Check your firewall/anti virus settings. Then a complete shut down:
PC off
iPad off and Sonos app deleted
Router off
Bridge off
3 and 5 off
Then all back on one by one.
Report back!
NDA - Brilliant. It works again. I had already gone through the process of rebooting everything and undeleting the application - only hadn't rebooted the router. Did the complete lot this time including router and lo and behold it is again a superb system.
Is there logic that it was the (BT2) router given everything else worked including my wireless to all laptops etc when the iPad failed but only as the Sonos controller? Or is it going to be just one of those unexplained mysteries? Anyway, many thanks for the extra prompt. (Hope I don't routinely have to be rebooting everything - fingers crossed.)

Excellent - glad it worked.
Sonos is very stable, the only issues are occassionally with Spotify and other similar services, which get glitchy at peak hours, otherwise it's very stable.
You'll know I guess that the iPad is not strictly talking directly to Sonos? Your iPad is on your wireless network, Sonos is on its own network - completely separate. So having your iPad next to a bit of Sonos kit won't improve functionality. But your network can squeeze Sonos out - so you should not use 20+40, 20 on its own is better. Also keep Sonos 3 channels away from your router.
Quite why it wasn't working before is probably to do with your router needing to assign IP addresses - probably! Who knows...
