Seasons over - what upgrades to install in the close season?
Discussion
Ok all,
The track day season is over (well its winter anyway) what upgrades will you be applying to your respective track weapons? Our E36 M3 will be receiving some attention in a big brake kit upgrade (suggestions on others recommendations gratefully received...) we will also be spending some time taking some fat off it, remove air con and some interior bits not necessary anymore.
Pics below in current form, mechanically fair standard except for coilovers, cage, bucket seats & harnesses, and strut braces.

Nice car - is there any advantage to a full decat exhaust on these? Dunno how far you want to go with the weight loss, but the previous owner of mine stripped all of the sound deadening and rear trim then put the carpet back down...best of both worlds and still not that noisy with an straight through exhaust. Maybe polybush it too?

Don't know about the Decat, will have to look into that, fair shout as it's always helpful to let the car breathe a bit better. In terms of interior , that is our plan, stick the carpet back in, but remmove a lot of the sound deadening - it weighs quite a lot! Polybushes are already on

Hi guys
Dont think there is much to be gained from a decat* other than weight saving.
mines going to be getting caged, buckets, porch 911 bbk, and finish stripping the weight
(e36 m3 evo)
And the season has only just begun for me. love wet trackdays, and they are cheaper!

Engine rebuild and a mapping session (only as it blew the bottom end at brandshatch)
@ leg, you picked some wheels then
Yeah mate, thanks for your help there. I know appearance shouldn't be a factor but what's wrong with looking good out on track eh. :-) they are nice and light too.@ leg, you picked some wheels then

Currently doing nothing but messing on my iPad though, had an arthroscopy op on my right knee this week. I'm less mobile than a Prius right now!
By the way, I haven't ordered the wheels yet, not had chance what with hospital and what have you. The slips only come in 15x7 and my current wheels are 15x6.5. Current tyres are 195/50/15s. If I stuck 15x7s on with 195s on the front and say 205s on the back do you guys reckon the fronts would still fit in the front cycle wings? Rears should be fine and a bit more rubber back there can only be a good thing.

hope you heal up intime for Xmas! I run 15 x 7s with 195 front and rear with no prob. Also 195 is always 195 no matter the rim size so should be all good.
Hope that helps

Thanks guys. Yeah the car handles great, quite neutral. It's a BEC and only weighs 501kgs so I have to really push for it to lose grip/traction anyway and that's on Toyo TR1s. Might be best to stick with 195s as you suggest.
Right. That's decided then, a set of slipstreams in 15x7 with a set of 888s in 195. Good stuff.
Had the op (20 years of 3 x a week 5 a side im afraid) done at Nuffield York who were excellent but as wifey is a Nurse Practitioner the home care is even bette although if she works out it only hurts half as much as im making out I'm a dead man. ;-)

A new set of shoe's for me. Been very impressed with the Dunlop DZ02G on my 18inch square set up rims so Ill probably go for the Hard compound DZ03G.
Plus replacing supersprint centre section with OEM then maybe if its still to loud replace supersprint CATS back to OEM as its a right on the limit of 105db.
shame as its sounds rrraaaaawwwww as it is.
