It's a Hummer, but not as we know it...

Chinese one-off homemade Hummer probably isn't the future of motoring

GM's attempt to sell the Hummer brand to the Chinese might have been scuppered by the People's Republic back in 2010, but it seems one Chinese man didn't give up on the dream of a Sino-centric Hummer.

Enter stage left (and presumably ever-so slowly) Qu Zhibo from Hainan province. His home-made Hummer apparently cost him around £400 and features, er, we don't really know what, other than an engine and twin tyres all round.

It took Mr Zhibo three years to create and he reckons that it (being largely recycled) is one of the greenest Hummers ever made. And he's not finished yet; now he's got to paint it...

More Jeep than Hummer? I see he's left himself enough space with the wheel fairings to go up a tyre size or two in future.

China is filth, dirt and will ruin the world

Why can't car news be censored from china .... Who cares now if they buy 'which ever car' .... They would sell their own family for the smallest money

Go and live there, spend time there, you'll then never want to hear of the place again

he lives in Japan... explains it all really wink

As rubbish as we all know that will be, at least give the man some credit for trying. He's obviously just a poor farmer with barely two pennies to his name trying to live a boy hood dream

EDIT: if you want to see a real Chinese hummer equivalent look at this thing

The only problem with driving a home made Chinese car, is about an hour later you'll want to drive another.

It would appear recycled cars are exempt from tax and registration in China

I'm guessing they don't exist. Cars are still relatively new in China and all of the new money is importing top end German metal. It will take a good few years for stuff to filter down to Shed level.
