Hello all,

I've gone all-out on my combined lust for AMG-ownership and "deprecianomics" and landed a very fine CL55K, privately. It's a wondrous thing that I'll enjoy only at the weekends.

The water-pump seems to be just a little more squeaky and eccentric than I would like, so I'm going to check it into one of the 2 very good independents near to me. And so I thought I'd check out the warranty status first...

On buying I was assured that the outstanding warranty was transferable, however seems that there's a window on that transference that I am now well beyond, so I'm not so covered as I assumed.

The provider, GoCar, aka "Customer Protect", seems to offer a remarkably cheap basic package for this car. Nothing fancy, as it's "too old".

Has anyone any experience of this org, and whether it's worth pursuing a new warranty with them, or getting my xfer fixed?

Or does anyone have any recommendations of a good provider, or can broker something attractive? WarrentyDirect (PH's link) are quoting £875pa (similar to Uncle Quentin's quote), which I think is a bit strong, considering the car's excellent provenance, condition and the careful and negligible use it will get. If it was my bread-&-butter car then maybe, but I don't expect to put much more that 2k miles per year on it.

Also, is water collecting in the gutter around the boot opening something to worry about? I have to park it slightly nose-down (until I get garage space back), and it seems to be collecting considerable lakes of water.
