UNderstanding "How many Left"

Anyone here used the How Many Left? website (http://howmanyleft.co.uk) to see the number of a particular model still on the road in the UK?

I'm just trying to make sure that I'm reading the data correctly. For example, the results from one search are:

Vehicles licensed every year 2011-2000. Click model names for more stats.

Does this mean that in 2008, 68 models were on the road, then another 48 were added in 2009, a further 44 in 2010 and just 17 so far this year? Making a total of 177

Or is it not cumulative data. ie 2008 68 models were on teh road, then another 116 were added in 2009 (making 184 total) then a further 160 in 2010, and 177 more so far this year (making a total of 521)

It is yearly totals, so it shows how many were on the road in that particular year.

The more obscure the model, then the less accurate the information, remember. Ive seen a number of obviously large mistakes with Porsches.

So 177 total on the road. Thought that was about right.

VOSA released the data on 2008's MoT pass and failure rates for cars by model as a press release in 2010 (not got the link now, sorry - just downloaded the pdf at the time). When I researched this for a car club mag I assumed the number of MoT passes for each model in 2008 approximated to the number on the road in 2008 - possibly a flawed argument but it gives a 'feel' for the numbers...

Even allowing for a possible gap of a couple of years between 2008 and the undated "how many left" data, there are still signifiant discrepancies between the VOSA info and "how many left" - I'd trust the former, if you can find it, to be honest .
