I want to buy a 4X4. I have around 12k to spend.
Car is used for business through the week, and family bus as needed.
I do about 18k miles a year, and don't pay for my own fuel, but pay for all maint and tyres etc.

I dont know much about any of the 4X4 offers, but I have narrowed it down to three different cars, of different ages, but the same price point
- VW ToeragV6 TDI 2007
- Mitsi Outlander 2008
- Mitsi Shogun Warrior 3.2 D 2005

Obviously all different cars, different ages, with different benefits etc

Any input welcome....

not any offroad stuff.

I live in a village on a moor in Scotland, and I drive to Aberdeen/Inverness weekly through Jan/Feb/March

Four wheel drive is very useful, as is the ground clearance

How big is your family? What options would you like? ie sat nav, leather, etc And will you ever be going off road?

Is there a reason you're looking at diesels? Petrols (especially the big ones in 4x4s) are generally cheaper to buy so I would have thought if you're not paying for fuel, a large petrol engine might be the better buy?

Get a V8 with side exhaust!

Some more details-

Will never go properly off road, but roads surrounding my house are single track, and in the snow are pretty horrific

I have two kids- one baby seat, one in a booster

I'd like leather, decent aircon and stereo, since I spend a lot of time during the working week in it

Current car is an A4 Quattro Avant, which is nice, but not big enough, and the ground clearance isnt good enough

Hadn't thought of a pathfinder..

Problem with most nissans is the French connection , as always the weak point .

Personally I would go for a touraeg followed closely by land cruiser then a crv . Think the landcruser might be depreciation exempt

I'd go for the VW - lovely interior. Probably the most refined and comfortable.

To be honest with you, it sounds like a Toyota landcruiser would fit the bill perfectly. Just make sure you go for the amazon.

No reason those cars won't do half a million miles and more tbh.

Mazda CX-7's are epic !

I would be looking at a 4wd Estate ? A6 Allroad or XC70 maybe ?

Its company money, so I have to spend all 12k on a car.

As for the 'get an estate' comment, I already have an estate, and its not up to the tasks.

Anyone with a Toerag - can I get two kids seats and an adult in the back?
