My insurer didn't care about me painting the entire car a different colour.
Apparently as it's not stated on the documents, if I told them, it would only be out of courtesy.
(sorry for late replys)Apparently as it's not stated on the documents, if I told them, it would only be out of courtesy.
So it's fine, you could paint your standard wheels any colour you like with no implications what-so-ever?
Yes you need to tell them.
Most policies having wording requiring anything which increases the "performance, value or attractiveness" of the vehicle to be declared.
It wouldn't surprise me if a non-standard colour steel wheel could be seen to increase the attractiveness of the vehicle to thieves.
They'd be hard pressed to cancel a claim due to just that, but if there were a few other "questionable" items on the car then they could build a case to cancel your policy during a claim.
If in doubt, tell them. Don't give them a chance to wriggle out. And don't use esure.

I've got an "I've been to Woburn Safari Park" sticker in my back window, but I haven't disclosed it to my insurers.
Stop monkeying around & tell them...Insurers are weird. I've had mine tell me that if I replaced my OEM alloys with different OEM alloys, that I could have had on the car from new, that it would cost me sixty quid.
However, if I'd purchased the car with those exact same alloys as a factory option, they wouldn't have cared because they don't treat factory options as a modification from standard specification.

Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff

but removed it after a week or so, as I thought it would give the insurers an excuse to duck out of a theft claim as it made it more desirable..........
