No more miles

My mileometer has stuck just before clicking over to 40K.

The last time this happened a quick 150mph trip on a "test track" solved the problem.

Is there an easy fix or do you think the will accept my explanation of "I wast just trying to fix my mileometer officer"?

Depends if you are you on limited mileage insurance or not?

A thump on top of the dash while moving usually fixes this...

Or if you want to keep the miles low - make a note of how many tanks of fuel you put in (approx 220-250 miles per tank), so you know when it's due a service !

I "accidentally" left mine for a couple of hundred lol Tap the speedo and press the reset button at the same time as giving it some death. And you thought mobile phones were dangerous!!

Apparently, this is quite common, when the speedo is going past the 10k/20k etc.. marks. There was a topic on this about 6-8 weeks ago. Not sure how you cure it.

Mine stuck at 50k then has done at 51k, 52k and 53k but soon gets going again...the cost of the cure would be prohibitive I would expect.

Try reversing a little way. That sometimes gets it working again. Mine stopped on the way down to Le Mans....reversed for about 15 yards on the campsite...voila, working again!!

mine did this when clocking 26k - must have stuck for a hundred miles or so then miraculously started to work again.

Got it permanantly fixed though - a new sensor for about £40

Mine did this going from 89999 to 90000. I took the speedo apart and 'assisted' it over the sticky bit
