Anyone want to swap a wedge?
Discussion
good idea, as i can now walk to work and its summer, its really anoying though as the problem on my car will only cost about £40 to sort but i am that poor at mo it may as well be £400, it is a very wierd feeling knowing i may be TVR less for 6 months. I can go without food and warmth, but not TVR.

it was me in the cerbie convoy...driving carefully i might add so no thrashing..well maybe a little bit. I lost sight of you at 130mph
Sorry to hear the news on the finances.
Hang in there, I'm sure everything will sort itself out

Felt bad watching my old Wedge drive off even knowing I had a Griff coming in a few days

Got to be honest, I literally had tears in my eyes when the 350i thundered away from my drive for the last time, without me driving it.
I turned round and went back in the house, straight out back for a fag and an eye wipe.
Gutted!
Hi Wedget:
First guess from readin the start of your post is that it is either fuel or electrics.
If you get power under acceleration but seemingly very ruogh when driving normally then, to me, it points to a bad spark/fuel not igniting until the pressure and/or power to the plus picks up.
It may be that the additive has put a coat of muck over the plugs? Or it could be that the points in the dist are fuzzed up.
You have probably done this and I have not read enough to see but do the following:
Check the size of the load coming out of the leads from Dist.
Take the plugs out and look at the state of them.
I am pretty sure that the fault is either a naff spark due to weak electrics or a naff spark due to muck around the plugs.
They are simple engines and it is best to think simple with them.
Don't take the car anywhere or pay anyone. Your best bet is to find a capri club or forum. Lie that you have an early capri (ie simple electrics so you don't get someone going on about all the modern gubbins etc, unless you have injection) and explain the problem and someone there will tell you exactly where to look and what to do.
Your hope lies with a capri not not a TVR nut. Remember that an engine service on a capri will cost a fraction of one on a TVR. I wonder why
