La Bala Kit

Hi All

I'm considering building a La Bala car from Graber cars. Does anyone have any experience of this car in Europe/UK - its a US car (www.grabercars.com). I'm thinking of fitting a Duratec 3.0L V6 in the rear. Ideally I'd like the hardtop option, one it's released.

Opinions/experiences gratefully received.

I looked at it at Exeter.

It was ok, though I thought the panel gaps were a bit large/uneven and it looked a bit unfinished. I wasn't convinced by the styling either to be honest. It looks a bit odd from some angles. The chassis looks good though to my untrained eye.

At the price they are asking for the kit I would have expected a better fit and finish.

I guess if you like the way it looks with a bit of effort the issues could be sorted quite easily.

Thanks for that. I'm umming and ahhing about the styling myself as well - I'm undecided whether the front clam looks too high off the ground and there's too much hanging forward of the front wheel arch. I dont like the car so much as an open top, but the rendered images I have seen of the hard top look pretty good. I've noticed there is now a UK distributor, so a trip might be in order to get an idea of proportions in the flesh, and the fit/finish, etc. It also seems pricey in tough times, but I guess thats import costs, etc..
By the way, nice car on your profile - I used to have a black Libra V6..

I also saw it at exeter and wasn't too impressed with it. Pretty much the same faults as the other poster as asid about. Think the price is steep too there are plenty of cars of that theme (not kit cars) thats a lot cheaper than it and would guess better handling too. The only other mid engine car similar to this that you can build is the marlin 5EXi supposed to be really good handling cars and better looking than the la bala.

But if you do go ahead with it then good luck.
