I was so excited by this mornings blast around the ice rink in the wedge that i forgot last nights little shake down run. It was the first time properly driving it in the dark. The headlights aren't exactly bright.

Stopped at a mates house to show him the car and turned off the lights. One went down immediately. The one I had 'fixed' didn't. The fix involved putting a nut on the end of the bolt that holds the rod that moves the light housing up and down.

My mate laughed and said 'Typical TVR' at which point the light wiggled and descended gracefully into the bonnet. The timing was perfect, almost as if the car was listening to him.

The 'fixed' light housing rises more than the other one. Is it possible that while fiddling with the rod connector I managed to extend it (it is two pieces that screw into each other) so now it pushes too far up to be pulled back down properly?

I base this theory on my automatic garage door which won't shut itself if you have pushed the door a little further up than it raises itself.

Any other suggestions welcome.

laugh..Thats how it starts mate..Mine was called that in the beginning but they do get under your skin and sometimes you will swear blind you heard it talking to you..scratchchin..Unless thats just me..But when you start dreaming of it and defending its existence..Its all over..(look into my eyes)..You WILL think of a name for it..Your heart is turning wedge shaped and your blood is fondue.."Does that sound too cheesy"... hehe

Seriously though..Even if you do decide to replace the body it will always be a TVR underneath..I implore you .."Dont do it"..Learn to love her and caress her smooth silky body while you gently wash her down.."oops"..There i go again...Maybe she was giving you the eye...Ziga

I am going to run her ragged for a couple of months then rip off her clothing, rub her down, knock off the sharp edges and stick some curvier clothes on her.

Or more accurately I will drive the car enthusiastically until Feb or march when I with remove the body work and clean up the chassis. i will then stick a new glass fibre body on and suprise a few MG and Triumph owners.

Ah, the joy of the headlight pods !

The adjuster has a standard and a reverse thread, so simply turning the long hex part changes its length. Mine has a locknut at each end of the long hex adjuster. You need two 10mm spanners and some patience.

When I bought mine it was misbehaving, and I had to adjust/replace the rubber stops, and then readjust several times to get it all smooth, but just tight enough so there's no headlight wobble over the bumps. Plus the wiring.....(in another thread)... which caused an occasional full retract and lift over bumps....

It's easily doable, just be ready to adjust them more than once !!

Its the inperfections in life that make it so wonderful, you can keep the high tech sit me in and remove my brain modern excuses for driving machines.Give me something you can feel and have to drive. My lights are still hit- and -mis no matter how much I mess with them.Having said that.I can stil fix most things on the wedge. Unlike a c class merc I had that died on me while on the motorway and I mean died .Everything no engine, steering .windows ,nothing.we dont control technology it controls us.Love the wedge with all its faults. Joy of headlight pods, and other things....

I wasn't being totally sarcastic....Taz is a great car to drive, even with its little foibles.
I always carry my [small] toolbox in the boot though.

My H/L pods are very reliable now, I haven't had a problem in ages .....
(that's it now, fate tempted)
