PH ski/snowboard weekend to Scotland?
Discussion
Anyone fancy it some time in Jan or Feb?
Nice drive up to Glenshee/Aviemore/Glencoe/Nevis Range on Friday, boozy night, ski/board Sat & Sun, drive home Sunday night or Monday...
Booze, mountains, snow, cars - what's not to like? Could be done pretty cheaply too I reckon (though its been 25 years since I last skied in Scotland...)
What's not to like? Easy to do as a single, couple or family.
I'm happy to do some organising but booking hotels and ski passes etc down to the individual. It would also be pretty easy to put together car sharing etc. I know I can take 3 passengers (plus skis & luggage) from the Yorkshire area.

Let us know when you are coming up. Would be up for Fri night drinking and a day of boarding.
Will do.Any advice on where is best these days? I have fond memories of tackling The Tiger at Glenshee as a lad but Cairngorm seems to be most popular these days.
Do any of the resorts have hotels right by lifts etc?
I go up every year, as often as I can. Leave Reading around 9pm, get to the car park at Glenshee 6-7am in time for the first lift. Ski, drink, sleep, ski, drive home and get back at midnight. Cracking formula for a weekend, and you get two full days skiing without having to take any leave.
Assuming the snow doesn't all melt this week (which is a possibility, according to MWIS ) I'll be heading up there on Jan 6th.

You drive up through the night, then ski all day Sat, bevvy and then sleep Sat night. Get up Sunday, ski again and then drive all the way home on Sunday night?Assuming the snow doesn't all melt this week (which is a possibility, according to MWIS ) I'll be heading up there on Jan 6th.

I'm in north yorks so would happily share fuel costs, if you wouldnt mind driving (my V8 is a bit thirsty at the best of times)
Likewise, I'm just up the road from you Ben (Thirsk area) and have no holidays booked this season (...yet, hopefully) so would be up for a weekend in Scotland at some point.Excellent, sounds like a plan may be brewing.
I have seriously got room for a couple - my pal John (PHer johnfm) is up for it too and has dibbed a ride. It would be in a FFRR so room for 4 comfortably with luggage and skis. I don't have a roofrack so would be loading skis through the hatch in the armrest meaning 5 would be a problem (unless anyone has a spare roof rack for a 2005 FFRR!?)
As it stands the only really easy weekend for me is Friday Jan 20-22nd. I guess ideal plan would be to drive up through the day on Friday but it does mean people having to take a days holiday - no problem for me though.
