this message just appeared on my dash 'motor control system failure'....no loss of power but bit worried with it been an alfa, does anyone know what this could be.....as its sunday evening nowhere is open to take it to, is it safe to drive

It's a general fault warning. You need to read the actual error codes.

Wouldn't worry unless it becomes a regular thing / stays on permanently.

There are one or two sensors which can throw up this warning randomly if they don't provide the expected reading when you start up the car.

gunna take it to a garage in the morning....is it ok to drive, is it gunna just stop on me ??????, i did not get a manual book with the car so cant really look at what it is...engine management light came on tho

It should be fine, worst is it goes in limp mode so you won't be able to drive it very fast. Will prob just be a sensor, shouldn't be a major repair
