Recession and your drive.

I'm (I guess) fairly fortunate, still got a fairly safe job, mrs likewise. Which, realistically means a 15% reduction in take home over the last three years, and lots of uncertainty over the next year.
So my planned large capacity V8 had to become something sensible, while still retaining a bit of fun.
What about you?

I've had no pay rise for the past 4 years, and I've just bought a V8
It was fairly cheap though, and I start a much better-paid job in the new year.
Besides, I face a 20 mile-a-day dual carriageway commute now instead of the 4 miles I'm used to, so clearly the V8 was an essential purchase.

I went from a 1.8T Audi to a 5.4 V8 AMG last month. Surprisingly not a massive difference in fuel consumption. At 70 the TT would do 36mpg, and the AMG does 32mpg. Its a different story when I put my foot down though
I've done something similar recently. Chopped in my 1.8T TT for a 5.2 V10 S6. Not one single regret.
