importing an S into france

hi all

dont know if anyone knows whether its possible to import an S3 into france and what paperwork is required
this would go for any TVR model built before 1998 i think
any idea's if you have done this before

I'm sure I've heard of several who've done it relatively recently. Might be worth an email to the French TVRCC at [e-mail]

I'd ask on the "general TVR stuff and gossip" forum.

Quite a few "Classics" seem to end up going to Europe (maybe not specifically France?)and I think the more modern cars are considerably cheaper in UK so our European friends are prepared to put up with having the steering wheel on the wrong side (although import tax's etc may cancel out some of the savings?)

From what little I've read and heard about doing "anything" in France there'll be a mountain of bureaucracy to get past!

Took me 6 months but there were some serious complications....

In theory all the S models were homologated in France. The problem is that now TVR no longer exists you cannot obtain a certificate of conformity for your car.

What is needed today is to contact the DREAL for the region and as that they 'identify' the car in question from the VIN etc. If it corresponds to a model on their database then its worth persuing.

However, not all DREAL offices are co-operative in using the database of homologated models so you may have to shop around.
