help me ...boxter or tuscan????

Would really appreciate some advice on what to get...
Is it true that tuscans or tvrs for that matter cost a lot of money to keep up and cost at least 4k once a year for servicing as beautiful as they are , are boxters a safer bet untill i have oodles of money to waste on servicing a tvr...thoughts, comments greatly appreciated ,thanx mel.

i really just want to know if tuscans have untold probs with them, is it important to look for one with an engine rebuild e.t.c just really what to look out for,and surely if i ask the same question in the porsche forum they are all going to say boxster!

There really are too many variables to make a straight Tuscan/Boxster choice really 
Is it your only car?
What budget have you got?
What budget have you got for running costs?
Which do you 'really' want?
How close to you live to someone who can fix either car?
What will you be doing with it?
Etc, etc.....

Raceboy forgot one essential question:
Am I interested in hair design ?
Get the Tiv not the Beetle
They are 2 different cars - Id compare a Boxster with a Z4 3.0 or Honda S2K..maybe a new Elise 111R.
A Tuscan is more like a 996 and high running costs come with along with it.
If you dont mind having to tinker with it now and again, along with the visits to the dealer to sort out niggles etc then maybe you could live with a Tuscan
If you want something outside you can just treat like a family soon, near zero maintenance between services etc the Porsche may suit.
Character and performance wise then the Tuscan is way ahead of the Boxster...reliability and build on the other hand.....
Weve just bought a Tuscan, still have a supercharged Elise S2 that Ive done 50K miles in over the last 2 years. The Tuscan is an awesome car (wouldnt have a Porsche if you paid me - I think they are too bland and common - great cars though) but you really need to be an enthusiastic owner who can put up with the quirks of owning a hand built british car ! We did a bit of research and came to the conclusion that if you get a good one, then it would be no worse than our Elise...except running costs would be higher....and that it may need a rebuild during the next 10K miles - make sure you get a bullet proof warranty and have another car you can use to get you to work etc should you need it

I test drove a Boxster whilst deciding what car to buy just over three years ago. To be brutally honest I couldn't believe people would fork out that much money for a frankly underwhelming car. If you want a Porsche, get a 911.
If you're worried about Tuscan running costs - I think you will have to budget about £2-3k every 12000 miles for servicing, brakes, tyres. Performance costs!

Hit the nail on the head. Totally agree. Do you realy want a poor man's 911 though?
