Had to happen sooner or later..... P38 suspension playing up
Discussion
Well all good things come to and end!!
Suspension is taking a while to get up to hight, and when left it goes down to bump stops.
Could be anything from a leak to needing a new bag(s) or compressor?
Place your bets! Taking it to Bush Motor Engineering tomorrow. anyone know them/used them?
Hoping it is some thing cheap and easy - car has always worked flawlessly in terms of getting to the correct hight.

Taking a while to get to the right height WOULD indicate the compressor (easy fix, and not outrageously expensive).... Just don't get a bodged refurbed one. Get a decent one on an exchange basis.
However, suspension dropping overnight would indicate a leak.... How old are the suspension airbags? As they age, they perish and crack. Again, not ludicrously expensive from a decent indy.... But if it is not an airbag, finding the leak could take time (and money)
Let us know how you get on.

Thanks chap.
Well It never really "got off the ground" this morning and half way there declared "EAS Fault" with all the lights on.
Bouncy journey!
I should hear from Bush Engineering today with the prognosis. My hunch is the pump as the failure has been sudden and complete (and just as it got to zero te,pratures too?). It was only MOT'd a few weeks ago and the tester commented on how nice it was mechanically. It has only done 50k, and has been serviced 11 times, never wanting for anything, but I suppose it is a 10 year old car, so stuff is going to perish.
Fingers crossed..

When I bought mine, I found that it sank overnight - meaning the compressor was working overtime, and it eventually failed. The sinking was caused by a leak via a badly fitted airbag rather than a failed/perished one. They refitted the airbag, and it has been fine ever since. Although the replacement compressor is noisier than the original one..... Not the end of the world, but occasionally annoys me.
And yes - driving on EAS failure is an experience!

I think I may have dropped it testing it, and then it didn't come back up, but cant recall. My (non mechanic) hunch is that the cold weather has killed off the pump, but we shall see!
Will post outcome once I have had "the call"...
Looks like the pump/compressor. They cleared the faults and the car went to correct height, so they are just leaving it over night to check it doesnt lose hight. If it doesn't then just the pump. If it does, then we may have another issue. He said bags all look good.
How much am I going to get hit for a compressor?

If you get one on an exchange basis, you'll pay that including fitting and the Very Annoying TaxRight, all done.
It was the compressor. They showed me the old one and the little piston thing had loads of the seal missing off it.
Very happy with the service they gave - left it overnight to check for leaks (none), and gave the whole car a check over.
The good news is they proclaimed it to be a "great example", and the pump that failed was the original, so it has lasted 10 years.
£275 for part (new Dunlop pump) and £120 labour, plus the dreaded VAT. Not cheap, but they got me out of a hole and took it in with no notice, so cant really complain.
