Hi all,

at some stage last night my car was hit by another and has dinted the rear door (quite badly). it has left silver paint on it, i suspect it may be my neighbour across the road (his car is silver) but he has no damage just superficial scratches on his rear bumper. no black paint from my car. would by insurers take a sample of the silver paint to match it to his? he has hit my car before a few years ago.

WHat do you guys think?

Have you confronted him about it? You should intimate that he/she was seen hitting your car without actually saying it, then see where you get from there.

Unless you're insured with CSI Miami I doubt they will go to any length to identify who hit you.

Are you on speaking terms with the neighbour? Ask them if they saw anything and see if they squirm.

Insurance nor Police would take any samples.

Doubt it would be worth your claiming with loss of excess etc.

Canvas your neighbours to see if anyone saw anything...thats your only hope

No, they won't.

Do scratches on his car match the damage caused to yours height wise?

If your car is as badly damaged as you say it is I find it hard to believe his would get away with just a few light "superficial" scratches.
