I suspect the van pulled right to avoid the truck. Car driver thought van driver was pulling in and being courteous?

Bloody close though!

From the sound of the ABS pump going mental, he's got no choice but to pull left of the van to avoid ploughing into the back of it.

Rather plough into the back of a 7.5t at low speed than veer out into the middle of the road to be confronted with that!

There's no way he could really have seen what was coming...the road appeared clear as he pulled to the left and by the time he could see the truck, he was already along side.

Personally I pretty much always react to avoid rather than just stamp on the brakes and focus on the back of the car in front. At least generally if you swerve and brake you have a chance of taking further avoiding action!
