i think that's the one I have, maybe even the one with a lower output.

I've left my car parked for over a month at a time with this connected and it starts every time. Saying that the battery is a fairly new (18 months) Bosch Silver so that may also be why.

I'm pretty sure it does now harm. So for £12.99 why not.

BTW: the instructions say to make sure the charger is unplugged before turning the ignition or its toast.

Is the cigarette lighter always 'on', on a 996?

Yes. Not so sure on the early 3.4 cars though.

That's put an end to that idea...

My 2000MY 996 doesn't have a live feed to the cig lighter without the ignition on!

Optimate lead it is then...

I had one on my polo, and it would drain the same. TBH with the amount of daylight we'll be having, i think the LED on the charger was draining more than the daylight was creating.
I also have a bosch silver on mine, and have also only been driving it once a month, and its been OK so far without the trickle charger.
It would be fairly easy to convert the lighter to always on.

I use them on 12v batteries on pigeon scarers, they work well outside and are now on their 2nd yr, fit and forget for the season. Not sure what the performance behind glass is like though. A bargain at that price.

Just ordered, thanks for the link. smile

Am I right in thinking I just plug this into my cigarette/12v inside my car (2006 997 C2S) and it will trickle charge the battery when its daylight?

Or at nighttime, locate the panel in front of the headlights and leave those on smile

I have a C tek 8100 on the car up at the house, my other baby is kept in a gargage at my Mam's with no electric but a large frosted glass south facing window, bought one of e bay and so far so good, seems to keep the battery topped up.
Can't go wrong for that sort of money.

Hi mate

Do you plug it into your cigarette lighter or the 12v aux in the rear centre tunnel compartment? Did you position in front or rear screen?
