Crystal ball time, is now the time to buy and store or do we just use them instead?

Why are you only talking 993 S models; I know I'll probably be accused of being biased, which I possibly am, but I really don't understand why the S models command such a premium over NB 993's.

I've had a 993 C2S & C4S in the past, and I can honestly say I prefer my NB 993 I have now; some of the prices being asked for highish mileage S models, I really don't get.

I'll now get my coat before all you S model owners come along. getmecoat

Reckon its the production numbers along with that wide arse! Curvier and rarer cars will attract a premium, especially low miles....mines stored with 20,000 on the clock, but am undecided whether to keep the miles off or just use it more next year...if they are going to mushroom soon want to keep mint!

Yes, but many people reckon the NB 993 is a sweeter drive, and sometimes fat rears and excess weight can be unattractive wink

Seriously though, if your car has only done 20k, I'd get out in the fine weather & use it, that's what they're made for and life's short.

If you use it as a fun/weekend car, it will still be a low miler.

Standard 993 for me too.
Use, maintain in top order, and enjoy would be my advice. Locking it away and keeping mileage low not worth the premium it will earn you later.

Will always command a slight premium over an NB, but doubt they will ever be a true classic like the GT or the turbo.
I guess you need to look at values of 911/930 Supersports and look at 930 turbo's, the supersport is as the C4S and C2S a wide bodied porsche, and to be honest a lot of people favour a C3.2 over a supersport same with the 993 IMO

I had a C4S 993 and remember driving a standard 993 C2, it was a far better drive and felt so much quicker.

Low mile cars maybe in yrs to come will be worth a few quid but i guess any old low mile run of the mill 911 Carrera's will be worth something due to supply and demand.

In the narrow camp for me and happy with it. But real point is that I have always been happy to drive it. When it needs work, it gets TLC. Now about 90k in my C4 after six years, possibly lost 6k in depreciation over that time, which isn't a bad bill for enjoyment - servicing costs nothing out of the ordinary either. Now getting to the point where its getting a little old, and time for some renovation rather than servicing, so thinking what I can do to it to continue the fun factor. Pep the motor, pull the suspension apart, sort out the body work.....? Will cost but a) doesn't have to be done all at the same time, and b) regardless of the mileage any 993 likely to appreciate in the future anyway - you can see how all older 911s have increased in value in the last few years, price dependent on condition rather than miles. Long way round to say, drive it and enjoy it.

Buy but don't store as they will probably creep up in value slowly.

Shouldn't lose anything and they look fantastic for posing around in smile

Nothing lasts... everything and everyone goes. Its infantile and shallow to try and repress the precariousness and transience of life. Buy em, rag em and live 'em to the full. Its all just a disco on a pinhead.

PS - In answer to the op, now is the time to buy and enjoy! And yes, I think they will appreciate eventually, but not yet.

In Switzerland there are a few 993 S and 4S for sale at a massive premium over the NB cars. However, not sure if they are selling at that price (would surprise me as they seem to be priced at the same level as the 993 Turbo, which has the go to go with the show of the wide arse).

My personal view is that for driving the standard 993 C2 on 17 inch wheels is the best and I wouldn't sacrifice that just to have the wider body look.

There are fewer really nice 993 about due to the drop in prices, rust etc

The 993 C2S and C4S do command a premium due to the extra curves but as others have said the drivers choice is a manual varioram 993 C2 and I expect these to become very sort after (they are now)!

Luckily C2 are cheaper to get into than the heavier wide bodies.

They do look lovely though! Followed a 993 C4S around Baselland last week- the wide rear end looks fantastic without the huge turbo spoiler. A friend/colleague of mine had the opportunity to buy a black C4S in great condition recently from one of his acquaintances- for 50000 CHF! I do hope he went through with the purchase, as that would be a bargain!

Sorry to get on my soapbox but given that the 4S is such a barge anyway, why they command a premium is totally beyond me.

So you have a lovely 993 and want to know if you should lock it away or use it? WTF is the point of owning a 993 and not using it. Sell it now if your not going to use it. It will go up in value but if you look at the vlue of 70's 911S it'll probably double in value in the next 25 years. I suggest you'll get a better return on the stock market.
