PS3 launched, need some help.

Whilst I was playing on my playstation today it decided to shut down mid game. Fan had been coming on loud and quite often, sounds like it could be terminal. The console won't stay on. The blue light will flicker along with the green light but quickly turn to amber then red. My main problem is trying to get the disc out as it won't stay on long enough to activate the eject button. The console itself is the first generation PS3 (the fat one). Any suggestions?

Try pressing the eject button while the console is switched off.

I've found that if you do this the disc is ejected before the console is even fully started so it just might work?

Mine did this a few months ago. I got an airline and blew through the vents and a ton of sh*te came out for about 2 minutes. It hasn't missed a beat since then.

These units suck a lot of air in and also dust so they need regular cleaning and hoovering.

Another tip is dont stand the unit upright either as the dust enters the machine a lot easier so clogs up sooner.

Take main board out, put it in the oven at max temperature for 10 minutes and away you go! Mine has been going a month since I got a YLOD.
