Mrs H67 and I are off up north tomorrow for a couple of days R&R at a country hotel near Norwich.

My fault ~ I bought her a voucher for 2 rather hoping she`d go twice. Still, you can`t win em all.

Anyway, can a helpful PHer recommend a decent restaurant or pub worthy of a visit, preferably one with a chef that won`t object to me ordering well done steak or being spoken to in a posh southern accent.

Thanks chaps.

"Up north" hehe
It's not even north!

Er, you do know it's in Norfolk, right?

You're better off taking your sister instead, just so you fit in.

Well, you could always try boating on the Norfolk Broads:

Or perhaps the Owl Sanctuary.

Visit the pedestrianisation of the city centre, I'll be honest, I'm dead against it, when Dixons was trading it was difficult to gain access for wheeeeeel chairs.

No trip to Norwich is complete without a trip to the Belgium Monk - it's not far from the city centre and offers an amazing selection of Belgium Beer all served in traditional Belgium beer glasses. The restaurant is good also, mostly renowned for its Mussels but other dishes are good also.

Or if Ale is more your thing, the Fat Cat is worth checking out - serves its own Ale along with a vast selection of other Ales and Cider. Its a little out of the city centre but well worth a visit and a lovely atmosphere. Fairly sure it won CAMRA pub of the year a few years back.

If you're hungry Mambo Jambos is worth a visit - its like a mini HRC or Planet Hollywood but Mexican cuisine. Blue Moon on Draft as well smile

Other items of note:

Castle
Colmans Mustard Shop
Could see what gigs are on at the UEA LCR or Waterfront
Norwich Riverside has the usual bars/bowling/cinema/nightclubs etc

What about "The Shades" - Beer and blues in the centre of town where you can "wait for her" whilst she is doing the shopping thing wink
