according to the gadget show you can see the difference at about £170.
its a digital cable that transmits ones and zeros not an anologue waveform, the equipment you have connected has error correction built in to overcome any loss.

so no,unless you have a very serious set up, the electronic sheds make more money on these leads than they do on the tv, hence you are "encouraged" to buy one.

I'd recommend this - cheap as chips and good quality.

Don't be conned into thinking you need to pay more - as the above said - it is a digital signal so makes no difference.

http://www.thatcable.com/ direct from their website or from them via ebay.

I almost laughed when the salespersons in Comet started giving me the old flannel about "you'll need an HDMI cable, shall we get one for your sir?" "You'll only need a 25 - 0 pound one, as it's only Blu Ray".. "Oh it can do 3D as well, you'll definitely need a £75 or up to a £150 cable"..

No thanks!

Picked up thatcable's, 1.3b ones after reading on here and reading around about them and their products. smile

That's the thing, you need to read up a little on it.. as always it's difficult to compare products.. some which claim to be to the standards..

1.3b is as near to 1.4 as most 1.4s are!! I think over about 1-2 metres the issues aren't apparent anyway. It's all to do with signal attenuation and impedance, but over a short distance these differences are negligible.

1.4 cables are supposedly made with a thicker gauge cable but the main difference between the two is the 1.4 cable has the 'not used' pin connected up and it is used for the Ethernet channel which at the moment i'm pretty sure there is nothing on the market that utilizes it. 1.3 is all you need for 3D (marked up as high speed). The only time you need to start spending some serious pennies on them is if you need a long one.
