4.5 AJP Battery Time has Arrived

Good morning,

Well as the thread title suggests....everything points towards my Cerbera requiring a new battery...now yes I have done a search and lost the will to live as to which way to go...my understanding is that the
"red-top" one is expensive circa £150 need special bracketing and only has 2 years warranty
"verta" one's are fit for purpose half the cost and and nearly fit....and have a four year warranty ...result....

err which one fits though....reading through the threads appears like it is a mine filed....height vs width vs length vs which way round the + and - terminals are....are they concealed or stand proud, creating issues around fowling the scuttle ...

I am getting v.idle these days....has anyone been through the pain and got one that works - doesn't need a mortgage - and fits and has the right terminals and stuff?

I mot'd the Cerbera a week or so back after just my got my licence back after six months...and just want to drive the thing!

The Red Top is well worth the extra.

Other batteries will grow old with time where-as my Red Top (which was second hand from CHP generator I might add) and is still going strong after a year. Holds charge nicely on trickle when not been used for 3 months!

I only bought my Cerb in May, so not had a winter with this battery yet, but its just a standard Halfords own make. So far its never missed a beat, and seems to have plenty of power to get the Cerb started. Ive also driven it quite a bit over the summer, so never really been left long enough to run down much.

I bought an Exide battery for around £80 and it starts the car on the button and comes with a 3+ year warranty from ECP Biggest size I can fit as well as the terminals being the correct way

Think its time for one too, used my cerb last week, went to start sunday and flat, although turned over a bit. going to condition the battery with my ctek charger and see what happens. Not really sure of the history of the battery so could be as old as the car 04 reg.

Mine went a few weeks back and the Yuasa Profesional 072 is to the original size spec. and so fitted with no issues. £100 bar a penny. http://www.thebatteryshop.co.uk/yuasa-professional... not the cheapest but good quality.

I bought the Redtop for my first cerb Steve and was impressed enough to buy one for the second cerb as soon as i got the car! Well worth the extra in my opinion, especially if you use her in the cold.

Don't have access to RedTops over here so took the dimensions of the one that is ALREADY in the car, noted the terminal layout and went and bought the highest CCA battery that would fit --> €143 !!

This is the most important piece in Cerb reliability - Don't cock it up !

Thanks for this, to be honest didn't really think about the red-top cos aren't they a pain to secure?

Where did you source yours...was it local to me?

Fair point well made...all I have done with my cerbera is try and build assurance in to the thing since I took hold of her about two years ago...so want to get a unit that is fit and forget...but don't want my pants taking down and having me bum spanked over cost..LOZ's red top might be the way...

i've jus had this problem on my cerbera last week.
I change for a banner one as my garagist (who has a cerbera too) told me it was a really good price - quality part.
The good point is that this battery is coming exactly in the battery's bay without problem.

Thanks for this.... do we have s spec...or battery id reference number/name

On the invoice it's only written
Banner 072 HA Left (as the + plot is inversed compared to standard batteries)

My Exxide is an 072 also, with reversed terminals.. Fits well..
